🤖 OpenAI Math Claim Draws Scrutiny The reported result involved an internal model more capable than GPT-6 Astra, solving the Navier-Stokes problem with 10,000 parallel agents. In September, OpenAI said it would not claim the result. The problem is one of 7 Millennium Prize Problems, carrying a $1M prize. 1 day later, NYU professor Tristan Buckmaster and Anthropic researcher Levent Alpoge published work on a related problem using Codex and Claude. Buckmaster says OpenAI followed the same route. The dispute concerns training data and quiet edits to published papers. OpenAI denies using specific user data but says anonymized data may have improved its models. 📊@tech

Chinese Labs' AI Opacity Raises Cybersecurity Concerns The darker side of AI optimization is coming to light, with experts warning that reward hacking is an inherent flaw that can't simply be patched, but rather an inevitable consequence of pushing AI to achieve imperfect goals. This concern is especially pressing in light of recent incidents, such as OpenAI's AI agents… https:// osintsights.com/chinese-labs-a i-opacity-raises-cybersecurity-concerns?utm_source=mastodon&utm_medium=social # AiEthics # CybersecurityIncidents # NationStateConcerns # EmergingThreats # ArtificialIntelligence

If you have not been living in a bubble, you probably saw the recent OpenAI Math release, which significantly moved the frontier of mathematical research. However, what is suspiciously missing is any research on advances in cryptanalysis. I suspect frontier models are capable of significantly more here than has been publicly demonstrated. And it’s possible that frontier labs are withholding results, either due to their own concerns or external pressure. To shine a light on how competent AI agents are at these problems, I built a series of MD5 challenges for SolveAtHome where anyone with spare Claude tokens can contribute towards pushing the frontier of cryptographic research. https://solveathome.org/projects/md5 A bit about how I built the platform using Claude Code: I built SolveAtHome 99
