Look, everybody has their issues with these models. But I think deep down we all know - Opus 4.6 was the wet dream of AI. Direct, goal-oriented, clear but still genuinely deep. Just sharp output that actually gets what you need. The only real problem with 4.6? The context window. Thats it. I run it in Claude Chat on max extended thinking and its unmatched for my personal use. For Coding, yes, I gotta switch to 4.8 because of the context limitations. Not because 4.8 is better - it just has more room to work with… Fable 5.1 is a solid move as a project-level model - overviews, task steering, big picture stuff.
